Prior to the cattery, Rarefield started off as a hobby farm that conserved rare and heritage breeds. Cat-lovers from the get-go, the cattery began in 2012.
Our Mission
Our mission is to have healthy Maine Coons above all. To achieve this, all DNA tests, ultrasound for HCM, and hip x-rays for hip dyslexia and patella luxation; all done by certified specialists. Our cats are raised in our home and are free to roam. They are never in cages nor are they de-clawed. They are part of the family and we love them dearly!
We specialize in rare colour variations of Maine Coon cats from European bloodlines, France a Germany. Our cats produce a variety of markings, such as the mackerel tabby, classic tabby or solid, smoke, silver and shaded
Solids; black, red, cream and blue with Tortoiseshell
Dilutes; Smoke & Silver and new this year, we added shaded. All with or without white.
Rarefield Cattery is registered and a member of T.I.C.A. (The International Cat Association) 25311.
Snowshoe Bloodline
Historically, 40% of The Maine Coon population is polydactyl (with extra toes). At Rarefield Cattery, we’ve chosen to emphasize this quality in our cats. Our breeders are from German, Italian and French bloodlines. We are proud to announce the start of the SNOWSHOE bloodline; Both front and back paws are multi-toed.
